It’s no longer 2020, but that doesn’t mean the Super Bowl will be back to normal. What’s different about Super Bowl 2021? Well, one of the teams is different than last year, as the Kansas City Chiefs return to the biggest game on the planet for the second year in a row to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And for the first time in history, one of the teams will be playing the game in its home stadium.
Since most gathering places like bars and restaurants won’t be fully open yet, odds are you will probably be watching the game from home this year. If you have cable, you’ll be able to watch on TV. But even if you’re one of the millions who “cut the cord” on cable and went all-streaming, there are still ways to catch the broadcast. Here’s how to watch Super Bowl 2021 in Davenport, IA.
Broadcast viewing options
Super Bowl LV kicks off at 5:30pm Central Time on Sunday, Feb. 7. It is on CBS this year, for the second time in three years. You can simply tune in to CBS to watch the broadcast, which will have plenty of pre-game coverage as well.
If you’re looking for a Spanish-language broadcast, ESPN Deportes has you covered with a Super Bowl 2021 broadcast en Español. For our friends in the U.K. and Ireland, it will be on BBC One (although it will start at 11:30pm local time).
Internet viewing options
If you’re watching from a computer, you can stream the Super Bowl for free on cbssports.com. For mobile devices and smart TVs, you can get the game on the CBS Sports app. To do that, however, you’ll need to have a CBS All Access subscription.
For the tech savvy, there may be another option. You may be able to watch the game on a bigger screen by streaming it free on cbssports.com from a device of your choosing and casting it to an internet-connected TV.
There’s one more option that can help laptop users. If you have an HDMI output on your laptop, or the right adapters, you can connect your laptop to an HDMI slot on your TV. That should mirror what is on the laptop screen to your TV, and allow you to see and hear the game on the larger screen.
Halftime show
It’s a well-known fact that many who tune in for the big game aren’t actually doing it to watch the football action itself. Many just want to watch the commercials and the extraordinary halftime show, and this year’s show should be no exception.
The halftime show this year will feature The Weeknd as its main musical act. But, as is the recent trend in Super Bowl halftime shows, don’t be surprised if it also includes a host of guest stars. Last year’s show with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira included Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny, for example.
